Discovering: Polperro, Cornwall

Arriving in Polperro, Cornwall

In June we headed off on our annual family holiday, this time to Polperro in Cornwall, our first time in that beautiful part of the world.

Having broken up the journey with an overnight stay part of the way down, (for the sake of our two-year old son), we arrived at our holiday home just after lunchtime feeling refreshed and ready for a break. The house was perfect and overlooked Looe Island, and was a perfect spot for the week.

On the first day the seven of us embarked on what we thought would be a leisurely stroll on the first day heading to the coastal path in the direction of Polperro, the path turned out to be a little more challenging and certainly not suitable for the pushchair we had taken, but offered some fantastic views which made up for it.

It is a really beautiful walk and broken up with a stop at a great cafe serving, amongst other things, the famous Cornish Cream Tea. Five miles later we arrived in the picturesque fishing town of Polperro ready for a well earned drink, needless to say we caught the local bus back! I’d strongly recommend the walk, just don’t take a pushchair and use sun protection!
