Discovering: Rio 2016 Olympics

Arriving in Rio, Brazil

Before my trip to Rio for the Olympics I was worried about mosquitos and the Zika virus due to all the negative media.  I was recently married and starting a family wasn’t too far off the horizon so there was a lot of concern about me going.  With the saying ‘prevention is better than cure’ in mind, I decided to research clothing that could help avoid mosquito bites and many of the reviews I found talked about Craghoppers Nosilife technology.

I’d never used or worn Craghoppers clothing before Rio, so I started looking at their range to pick out some items, and realised they had an impressive variety, which you could wear and use for different environments and various parts of the day.

Once I made it out to Rio and started wearing the gear, it was nice to have an assortment of options, including a Nosilife Belay long sleeved shirt, a Nosilife Avila 2 hooded jacketNosilife Cargo trousers and Nosilife Gilles Short Sleeve Polo shirt.  The material was very comfortable, and the clothing was versatile and looked smart.  I especially liked how breathable it all was, which was really important due to the humidity varying from day to day depending on the cloud cover.

I was commentating on the rowing which was based in Lagoa on the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, sitting in the shadow of Christ the Redeemer.  Being right next to the lake certainly carried a lot of risk as a potential breeding ground for mosquitoes, and I was working at the venue for 7 days so there was plenty of opportunity for me to get bitten; but I was very pleased to return to the UK with ZERO bites and just for good measure I took Zika test which came back negative!

I have continued to wear Craghoppers clothes since returning from Rio, and even on subsequent trips in California and Dubai, because they are so comfortable and look great. The clothes go beyond functionality and incorporate style as well, and I look forward to adding some more items to my collection.
