Arriving in Hanoi, Vietnam
After having wanted to tick it off my bucket list for a while, I was finally lucky enough to spend 3 weeks travelling down the coast of Vietnam – mainly by coach, but also other questionable methods of transport that your parents wouldn’t approve of…
We started our trip in Hanoi, then ventured to Halong Bay and relaxed on a boat for a couple of days. During our time in Halong Bay, we explored caves and kayaked in the evenings (which of course included some Karaoke). After our time on the boat and by the coast, I was happy to be back on dry land again, dodging hectic traffic and ordering another portion of fresh summer rolls!
There are so many beautiful spots along the coast, and I could have spent longer there than just my few weeks, but a favourite spot has to be Hội An – the town is quite separate from the coast, so you can easily dip in and out of a beach holiday and city break. The beach itself was huge, and quite secluded – giving you the feeling of having your own private area.
Hội An itself is a small town full of energy, with bustling food markets and an indoor clothes market where you can have anything made to measure. The best part of that was sitting and chatting to the girls who worked there, the warm nature of the people is constantly apparent – It’s definitely a place I’d love to visit again some time!
