When Olli arrived at the starting point donning a pair of Crocs, we were worried about what lies ahead of him during the two hour trail, but looks can be deceiving…

On this episode of Manchester Finest’s Craghoppers Weekend Walks we were joined by Ollie Ryder, step son of Shaun Ryder and one of the largest influencers in Manchester and the UK’s club and festival scene. One of his current endeavours is he’s now opening up the huge warehouse site on Dantzic Street as Love Factory, a new multi-purpose arts and culture destination.

The Route

The route is just over 5km and it took us 1 hour and 48 mins to complete the entire loop (If you include a well deserved ice cream stop). The loop is fairly flat with it raising 287m total altitude across the walk.

Situated in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the route begins at White Scar Cave, Britain’s longest cave system, formed from Carboniferous limestone, and stretches a staggering 4 miles through subterranean tunnels and chamber. After venturing through the marvellous cave system, we found ourselves back in the open air, crossing over the rivers via stepping stones and footbridges and exploring rambling country sides. The walk truly shows some fantastic vistas and the route is truly unique as you get to experience the expansive yet narrow cave structures and the glorious outdoor spectacles.

We don’t want to reveal too much away but it truly is a fantastic episode and a brilliant walk, so if you’re interested in watching the entire episode follow the link below! You won’t be disappointed!
