Sustainability At Craghoppers

At Craghoppers’, we’re proud of our products.  We ensure everything we do is as sustainable and ethical as possible, and are striving to do better every year. We thought we would share some of the work that goes into manufacturing our products ethically and sustainably. This includes reducing our plastic waste as a business, and recycling plastic bottles to make our kit – whether that be jackets, camping or equipment. Some examples include our NosiDefence Tent, where approximately 235 plastic bottles were recycled to make this product, and our Dylan Jacket where 65 products where recycled to make this product. 100 Million. That’s how many plastic bottles we have recycled since 2015 – and we’re just getting started.

Here’s what else we have been doing…

RECYCLED MATERIALS

We have been making good progress in this area and since Winter 2020, 70% of Craghoppers products have been **part made** using recyclable materials and in 2023 we are proud to announce we have recycled over 100 million recycled bottles. In addition to this, we have also increased the number of recycled materials within each individual product and have an aim to increase this further.

MICROFIBRE SHEDDING

We are aware that microplastic shedding is a well-known and dangerous polluter of our water systems and have ensured that our Microfleece has extra finishing to remove these excess fibres. Any Microfibres that are lost in the production process are collected by the vacuum system and recycled into wall insulation, minimalizing the amount of microfibres we shed during our manufacturing process. Alongside this, we joined the Microfibre Consortium in 2017 to find a solution to Microfibre leakage into our oceans.

MINDFUL PACKAGING

We have worked closely with Duo, our UK polybag supplier to upgrade all our mailing bags to 65% recycled content and all our repro bags to 50%. Duo provides our bags from recycled plastic from circular recycling.

WASTE MANAGEMENT

Our operations produce waste and it’s our responsibility to ensure that it’s managed, with a closed loop economy being the goal. At HQ and our Distribution Centre, all waste is collected by a waste management company, the following are recycled: metal, wood, WEE,
lamps, paper, card and plastic and we have zero landfill from any waste from our facilities.
