Stark, brooding and other worldly landscapes, typically with short growing seasons, very cold temperatures and simple vegetation. Tundra environments are home to some of the hardiest flora and fauna on the planet but for those who visit are rewarded with incredible geology, glaciers and natural wonders.

Tundra Holiday

Be prepared for the cold, with sub-zero temperatures the norm during winter seasons. In summer as the ice thaws, temperatures sneak over the 0-degree threshold, where you’ll be rewarded with meadows of wildflowers and migrating animals. Packable insulation and lightweight layers are perfect to regulate your body temperature from day to night. Summer doesn’t last too long though, so make the most of the longest daylight hours on the planet.

In winter admire the frozen swathes of glaciers and see for miles over tree-less plateaus. Clear skies and long spells of darkness offer amazing opportunities for star gazing, and if you’re lucky, a spectacular display from the Northern Lights. Wrap up in heavy insulated jackets with ample layers, keeping your head and fingers warm with hats and gloves.
