English Heritage

We are delighted to announce our 3-year partnership with English Heritage, helping the charity keep its 3,700 site-based staff and volunteers warm and dry across 400+ iconic historic sites across England.

Exposed to the elements on a daily basis, working at ruined castles, abbeys and stately homes, they will be wearing our waterproof jackets, softshells and fleeces. These are 3 essential pieces of kit that we believe will do the job.

As part of the partnership, we will also be working with ambassadors from iconic sites including Stonehenge and Hadrian’s Wall. They will give a true insight into life working at these locations, and how their new kit will make their job that little bit easier.

We asked each of our Ambassadors: apart from their own site, of course, where would they recommend visiting; what hidden gems are out there ready to explore? This is what they had to say.

Volunteer Supervisor Located at: Beeston Castle

“My favourite English Heritage site… other than beautiful Beeston? It would have to be Langley Chapel - a simple place of worship in a remote location that most people may not consider visiting. It has a wonderful floor of recycled medieval tiles and a feeling of peace and calmness which is very special and hard to find in this busy world.”

“My personal favourite is Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens. The gardens are the only Grade 1 listed set in Northumberland and are spectacular, whatever the season. English Heritage, with help from supporters, has also recently announced that it is investing £5.5 million in Belsay, to make it even better and carry out vital conservation work. It’s a must see for anyone visiting or living in Northumberland.”

“Tintagel Castle is an absolute gem! Anybody travelling to Cornwall needs to go and visit the Castle, not only to experience the new bridge crossing, but also for the beautiful views along the Cornish coast.”
