Craghoppers NewHide leather uses an innovative tanning process which uses less water and energy. Traditional leather tanning uses a huge amount of water, this new process uses fewer chemicals, less energy and saves 60-84% of the water the traditional process would use.
Craghoppers work with the Leather Working Group (LWG) to ensure that the tanneries which provide the leather used in our products work to social and environmental best practices. We are pleased to say our collections are now sourced from 100% LWG certified tanneries.
The Benefits of Leather

• If the leather is treated then it will be resistant against water and other liquids even before the addition of a membrane bootie

All this equates to 57% water saved vs traditional tanning and 38% less time in the drum which saves energy.
