This fabric has an Ultraviolet Protection Factor of UPF 40+, designed to shield skin covered by the fabric & reduce exposure to harmful UVA & UVB rays, letting you get out there to enjoy the sun safely.
Sun exposure causes skin damage. Only covered areas are shielded. The UPF rating of the fabric may be reduced with use or if stretched or wet. We recommend using several types of sun guard & even with protection avoid being in the sun during the hottest part of the day and/or for long periods of time.

These are the rays that are mostly responsible for sunburn and skin reddening. They don’t penetrate as deeply as UVA rays, but they’re just as damaging. They play a large part in the development of skin cancers including melanoma.
About 95 percent of the UV rays that reach the ground are UVA rays. The other 5 percent of UV rays are UVB.
