Unlike many other areas in the UK, Dartmoor National Park permits wild camping as long as it's practiced responsibly and respectfully. The Dartmoor National Park Authority recognizes the value of connecting people with nature and preserving the region's unique environment. To ensure this delicate balance, certain guidelines must be followed:
Location: Camping is allowed only in areas that are unenclosed and common land. Avoid farmland, cultivated areas, and any sections marked as private property.

Duration: Camp for a maximum of two nights in any one location to prevent overuse and damage to the landscape.
Leave No Trace: The cardinal rule of wild camping – leave the site as you found it. Dispose of waste responsibly, bury human waste at least 30 meters from water sources, and avoid creating permanent fire scars.
