One of the Four Waterfalls

A Guide to the Four Waterfalls Walk

There’s a place in the Brecon Beacons where you can experience one of the best walks in Wales. You’ll be traversing The Four Waterfalls Walk, which of course includes 4 distinct waterfalls and a pathway that goes fully behind a waterfall. A rare experience.

How Long is the Four Waterfalls Walk

The Four Waterfalls Walk is approximately 4.5 miles and typically takes between 2.5 to 3.5 hours to complete, depending on pace, photo stops and which route you take. While the full loop includes all four waterfalls, there are options to shorten the walk if you're pressed for time. We'll also provide a route where you can extend it also. Focussing on starting at the further car park.

Where is the Four Waterfalls Walk

The four waterfalls walk lies in the southern part of Wales in Powys. It's actually on the southern side of one of the more beuatiful parts of Britain, in the Brecon Beacons National Park. It's part of an area known as Waterfall Country, rich in woodland trails, limestone caves, gorges and of course waterfalls.

How Hard is the Four Waterfalls Walk

While suitable for most moderately fit walkers, the route includes steep steps, rocky paths, and occasionally slippery ground. You'll find that the waterfalls are especially slippery. Good walking boots are essential firstly to give better grip, but, if you have waterproof boots, they'll keep your feet dry. Quite important on a long walk like the Four Waterfalls trail.

Where to Park for the Four Waterfalls Walk

There are a couple of main car parks near the Four Waterfalls Walk, but the most popular and best option is the Cwm Porth Car Park. It’s also managed by the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority and has offers direct access to the walking trails for the waterfalls and has facilities including toilets and an information board with route maps.

For Cwm Porth car park there are fees to leave your car there. The cost is generally around £5 to £7, with a pay and display machine. The post code is CF44 9JF. The facilities included are toilets, picnic benches and a ranger station.

If Cwm Porth car park if full we'd suggest you go to Gwaun Hepste car park. There are other places still but this makes a good 2nd option. This car park is a little further away but is still connected to the waterfalls.

Whichever car park you choose, make sure to wear proper footwear and take your litter home—let’s keep this beautiful area pristine for everyone.
