Deciduous Forest Holiday

Weather conditions are changeable in these environments but can be consistent within the same month, with four seasons throughout the year, every season offers something different in terms of wildlife, sound, colour and experience, you could visit the same spot four times throughout the year and see the landscape in a completely different light. As many trees lose their leaves over winter, Spring and Summer offer the lushest time to visit as the tree canopy provides essential shade, it’s also great for those who are keen to spot a myriad of animals and birds.

Rain can move in quickly and stick around, so packing a change of clothes, a waterproof and layers is essential. And as quickly as the rain comes, it can disappear and warm up so, shorts, tees and a sun hat should also make your pack list.

Mild temperatures in general can vary dependent on altitude and time of year. Be prepared for cooler sunrises and sunsets.

Temperature: Summer times are mild, with an average temperature of approximately of (21°C) (70°F)

You’ll want lots of layers to be able to react to changeable weather and altitude, but you need to keep it light to avoid overly heavy bags. Our Corey and Miska fleece are perfect base layers, super soft and super insulating, you can then layer on our compresslite jacket (which packs into a stuff sack when not being worn and can be used as a pillow for camping)

A classic waterproof like our Lorton or Caldbeck is lightweight, breathable but highly effective at keeping you dry during downpours. In the peak of Summer and around water, our NosiLife abel t-shirt can provide defence against biting insects.

Zip off trousers like our Nosilife zip offs, also keep insects at bay but mean when it warms up you can convert them to shorts for some much-needed breeze on your legs. A comfortable and sturdy pair of hiking shoes like our Adflex are perfect for multi-day hikes, they’re as a comfy around the campfire as they are scrambling along a trail.

Top off your packing list with a sunhat (try our packable hat) and include our packable walking poles to keep fatigue at bay on those days when you’re clocking up the miles.
