Tai Chi, Writing & Laughter Yoga At Walmer Castle

Tai Chi

Known as ‘moving meditation’, Tai Chi Qigong promotes good health, wellbeing, stress management & relaxation.

Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi, also known as medical Qigong, is a set of eighteen gentle, easy to follow & learn moves that are designed to move Qi around the whole body, leaving you energetically balanced. This set has been modified for therapeutic benefit making it accessible and suitable for all ages and fitness levels, whilst offering the option for more experienced practitioners to go deeper.

6 Week Dementia Writing Group

Drawing inspiration from the voices of Walmer residents and visitors from across the centuries, we’ll weave between past and present, connecting with each other and famous figures for whom Walmer Castle has been a place of refuge and restoration. We’ll use these words as springboards, enabling us to leap into our own writing and thinking.

Led by local author and writing tutor, Liz Jennings, this six-week course will provide you with inspiration, motivation and lots of fun as you think, dream and write with like-minded people in this unique setting.

Laughter Yoga

Laughter truly is the best medicine, and Laughter Yoga is based on the principal that our bodies benefits from laughing even when we’re only pretending.

Using a combination of deep breathing techniques from yoga and playful laughter exercises, practiced in groups where you can make eye contact and connect with your sense of childlike fun, Laughter Yoga floods your body with ‘happy hormones’ and helps you feel relaxed, restored, and positive. As long as you are willing to have a go, you will enjoy the psychological and physiological benefits of laughter in our Moat Garden.
