My favourite class to teach and participate in is Vinyasa yoga. I first started practicing yoga 4 years ago when I went through a challenging time in my life and I can honestly say it changed my life forever. Now I’m on a mission to help as many people as I can, find inner peace through yoga practice.
Vinyasa is a style of yoga in which poses are carefully choreographed together to form a fluid sequence of movement. The poses and breathing are connected to provide full body and breath awareness. Just like a dance, poses flow one to another and are often repeated a number of times. Having done a lot of dance classes as I child, when I discovered Vinyasa I knew it was for me. There is something very nurturing about moving with your breath and allowing your body to flow in new directions, gazing inward in a meditative state of mind to help switch off from modern life and become mindful.
Vinyasa Yoga can be slightly more fast paced and rhythmical than a typical Hatha Yoga session and is therefore best suited to those with some yoga, Pilates, dance or similar experience. I like getting warm in my practice and moving a lot which is why I really enjoy the dance element to it along with the gentle background music.
